Brody here, just checking in.

Kinda down, lost a co-worker and friend over the weekend.

Marlon Edwards was one of our audio guys at The Best Damn Sports Show Period, he died in a automobile accident late Sunday night, fell asleep driving home to Pomona after doing tech on a TV taping in Hollywood.

I worked with Marlon five days a week at FOX for almost three years. Throughout our show he’d be on the stage, much of that time interacting with me and the audience (but he was no clown). He was rare, in that he would actually talk and participate in my little side show known as warm-up. Most crew types are shy, not Marlon, he’d battle with you.

We’d always go back and forth joking about our differences, many of those differences focusing on race and lifestyle, but hey, it was funny. I’d mock the Pomona Gangsta clothing fashion, and he’d shoot something back (not literally) about me being a punk, Jewish, etc. Guaranteed reaction, always got the crowd going, tension at its finest.

And trust me, not all black guys like joking about black stuff with white guys.

On top of that, Marlon worked hard, hustled and got the job done. And yes, he was a stickler when it came to ME to moving my mic cord!

Marlon will be missed, and I’m not just saying this. No matter how hard we went at each other, the day would always end with smiles and a cool handshake.

He was a no bullshit guy, and he liked what I did.

Thanks Marlon, I appreciate it. You were a good man.
