Lotta laughs last night at Largo in Los Angeles, California. You may wanna catch the next one?

In the meantime I’ll be at the Comedy Store tonight at 12:15, then Saturday hosting the Midnight Show at The Improv in H-wood. Tonight will be more stand-up and intensity, tomorrow geared for variety and chicks.

Speaking of chicks. Don’t love Lindsay Lohan, but I appreciate all the girls who dress like her. I say, good for them! - and us too, perched on a bench across from the Northridge Mall Hollister eating Mongolian BBQ at 2pm on most Sunday afternoons.

never thought I’d be broke…

but I am.

Poor planning and decisions, looks like a dry Chanukah.

Kids, this is what happens when you drop out and focus only on the laugh.

I’m one direct deposit away from a couch surf or back seat bed and breakfast.

Maybe I should audition more or follow up with that demo reel to GSN and E! (which they REQUESTED, btw) Headshots? Got some from three years ago, sepia toned.

Made it this far using my Buddhist/Samoan theories.

Doing Largo Thursday - didn’t send in anything or audition for them. Just friends with Zach Galifianakis and he feels sorry for me.

Press Release…

As of yesterday, Holiday Season 2005 Brody Stevens will now be available for private parties, entertainment functions and corporate retreats.

*****

Apparently they played my segment last night on Craig Ferguson. I wonder how it turned out? I’ll work on procuring the media from World Wide Pants.

So yeah, tomorrow the 17th at Largo on Fairfax across from Canter’s Deli around 8:45pm - check it out somehow, could be fun.

The 18-year-old killer and his 14-year-old girlfriend/daughter of the victims were captured in Indiana.

Terrible and horrific made for TV real life event - gotta feel for the kids and the community.

That being said, gonna be tough deleting him from my MySpace friends list.

this is just a sample of the mindset I have to deal with…

Who has a Bat Mitzvah with relatives flying in at age 37 - then at 40, goes out and gets a tattoo? - my sister.

Please don’t get me started.

Stephanie, what’s your site? - a Yahoo personal?

Be nice to me and my fans.

You tried to hijack Mom. Thank god I stepped in and stormed the cabin, throwing your evil spirits down to the tarmac below.

Family
matters and I ain’t Urkel!

Tonight: Improv 10:30pm - Melrose, CA

Saturday, November 12, 2005

Elon Gold, Jim Norton, Brian Callen, someone else, Zach, and me (hosting).

Been too long, let’s chat…

Just figured this out. The Napoleon Dynamite character is more than loosely based on Butthead, friend of Beavis. With the B & B DVD out and MTV retrospectives galore, others will pick up on my theory. Not hating, just being honest.

And bitter.

Haven’t worked out for three days and I feel great! Today I’ll do everything, except swim and gravity boots at public park. Throw, lift, surgical tubing, then bicycle indoors.

Already took my Greens and Flax Seed Oil, let’s do this.

Seriously, I really do take supplements, so why not report my results to the public? And don’t say, “we all take vitamins”, cuz you don’t. For years, people have ridiculed me regarding my intake of Co-Q 30mg, silica horsetail, and most recently, Anti-Oxidants.

Yesterday, taped a Letterman’esque skit for The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on CBS. Should air sometime next week, it was fun. Look for a drawrf in a tux wearing a top hot and Icey from, of course, Iceland.

Yes, she’s hot. But she’s probably into young Brazilian men who smoke and ride scooters. (strange inkblot on the balloon you know where)

Night before, I was at the ArcLight in Hollywood watching the LA premiere of Sarah Silverman’s Jesus is Magic. Sarah is such a great performer, so funny, and fabulous skin too (for that alone you should see this flick). If you’re a fan of her work, this movie is a must. If you’re on the fence, check it out anyway. It’s mostly stand-up (honed and tight), a few music videos and single camera backstage skits. A great mix and variety of SS - like STAR 98.7 fm or the new Jack format, possibly a unique channel on Sirius?

But anyway…

Silverman’s singing is really good, plus the songs and visuals are catchy and fun (though dark at times :). And for the encore, a blindside left hook really puts a ribbon on the show.

Risks were taken, acting was solid with Brian Posehn, Bob Odenkirk, and sister Laura Silverman. Sarah and the movie hold your attention and make you laugh and think about well constructed jokes and mannerisms. She gets it, and in the man world of comedy, that’s saying something.

I think it’s cool, inspiring, which is tough to do, you know - to be the lead for all masses to see. Say what you want, like her material or not, gotta respect the fact Sarah, director Liam Lynch and others behind the scenes pulled this project off, delivering the goods without compromising persona. This concert movie played the BIG SCREEN at The ArcLight in Hollywood, AMC Times Square and sold out two packed shows at West LA’s famed Nuart on the ultra-competitive Friday night.

Opening weekend turnout is enough to rest your hat on. And Sarah loves hats.

Oh, I have a small no-word cameo three-quarters of the way in.

Sarah is my friend and has always been super nice to me - in short doses, of course. I’ve known her for five years, she’s known me for two.

Yes, this review is bias, but honest.

In closing, I had fun presenting the Nuart early show, then helping Sarah out with the post-credits Q and A session. In the back parking lot after the event, Heavyweight World Champion James “Lights Out” Toney came by to say hello - he was on his way to a local restaurant, he and Sarah would make a great comedy pair.

As would Spike Jonze or Catherine Keener, who just happened to stick around and shoot the breeze with us in a semi-circle between screenings.

After writing this piece, I can see why it’s easy to fall for Sarah in a creepy way.

I’ve fallen, but I’m not creepy.

Right?

Mom, who gave me her car, are you there? - Stephanie, older sister I live with until December 15th? - Hello. Will you be my references?

Kids, let’s have a great weekend! - See ya soon.

Me was Brody.

No on Props. 74, 75, 76, and 77 - I guess California doesn’t like disco.

Rain in LA today, the marine layer is thick with moisture - chains at higher elevations through the Sepulveda Pass - CHP has set up a make-shift station on Skirball to assist stranded commuters.

In other news, tonight at 8:30pm we’ll be at The Comedy Store on Sunset honoring the memory and life of Kelly Moran. Last week Kelly passed away, unexpectedly, in his sleep. He was a friend, solid comedian, and one-time piano player at The Comedy Store back in the day. Have photo with Kelly, looking for it, think it’s with my framed first pay stub from the Joe Torre Baseball Camp, circa 1985.

Tuesday Two-Step

Tuesday, November 8, 2005

Just like Denim and Diamonds back in the day - any coin any drink!

17 terror suspects arrested in Australia? - I’ll take you to a coffeeshop on Ventura Blvd. and net you half that number.

Persians, Jews and Russians all get along in my neighborhood - we love hip-hop, swimming and walks at dusk.

The partnership of BS.com and MySpace has been a bonafide success - unique visits here and new pals there are beginning to reach their anticipated projections.

scene of crime.jpg

In other news, I helped solve a dolly theft the other evening at 7-11 on Vanowen in Reseda.

Just minding my own business on a Sunday night around 11:30pm eating three items off the El Pollo Loco dollar menu, listening to talk radio, relaxing in car. The parking lot is shared with 7-11, Domino’s and a cash checking joint.

After a few minutes of munching in vehicle, the big 7-11 delivery truck arrives carrying tomorrow’s sandwiches, apples and Slurpee syrup. Again, late at night, lot is quiet, I’m enjoying a cheese quesadilla, ground is wet from cleaning, typical, nothing out of the ordinary.

So I see three Latino gentleman in their 40’s with beer and smiles walking from the drive-thru area pushing a dolly. Possibly coming home from work? A little industrial site around the corner? Maybe helping a buddy move?

Didn’t think much of it, but I did make a mental note.

After a few moments, I hear the delivery truck’s hydrolic lift and I notice the driver’s body language. Appeared as if he was looking for something, possibly a dolly?

So I ask him,“Looking for your dolly?” - he says, “Yeah”.

I tell him “Three men took it that way about four minutes ago, thought it was their’s”.

This Spanish-American delivery guy takes off, booking south on Reseda in a dead sprint, leaving Big Gulp cups, carrots and celery alone to the elements.

Next, I get out of my car, walk into the street where I see a confrontation way in the distance, and somebody goes down! Fog, dark, late at night, gotta help this guy. So I pop my trunk, get the bat, drive up and head toward the epicenter.

Once arriving on scene, I see the delivery guy with his dolly, fighting off a drunk Mexican guy who’s being held back by a less drunk Mexican guy. The third Hispanic male, who knows where he went? The word “puto” is being thrown around.

(is “puto” Spanish for “dolly”?)

So I pull up and tell everyone (still in car, finger on 911 send - lot’s of reversing, windows going up and down, perpendicularly maneuvering in light traffic) to “Go home, break it up, don’t make me call 5-0!” - “We all win, stop it!” - I then proceeded to counsel and brief each party, stating “it’s over and done with”.

And it was.

The delivery guy got his dolly back, drunk guys go home or pass out in the park.

Me? I head to the gym and do an extra 25 minutes of cardio based solely on adrenaline, fear and ephedra.
